Welcome to the 2mm Alien Flying Machine Sculpting Page

While sculpting the other Alien fighting machines (see here) I was thinking on how to approach a flying machine. I thought I needed to keep the flying machine in the same style as the other models.

So I started with a body exactly the same as the other models. But I did make the body a little bit smaller. I was worried the flying machine would look to big next to the other walkers.

Obviously rotor blades would have looked silly so I opted for a cross between jet thrusters and anti gravity wings. I made the curved wings by spreading magic sculpt putty over a drinking straw. Once it had set I then trimmed up each end. Mounting the wings on the body was easy. I was going to go for a piston rod like the walkers limbs but thought the wings if they were to act as thrusters should be able to point in any direction. So I made them a simple ball and socket joint.

Here we can see the flying machine next to the Alien Tripod. I think the flying machine fits in very well with the other models.
