Welcome to the 6mm Sci-fi Infantry Sculpting Page

I've worked in 6mm scale to make a series of aliens but I have never made human troopers in any scale except 2mm. So when I was recently approached to see if I would make some 6mm infantry I thought I'd better have a little test first.

Pic 1

There is an great deal of 6mm infantry already available on the market providing plenty of ideas on pose, size, weaponry and overall design. But the challenge is always to make something unique. So picture 1 shows what I came up with.
The basic body of both troopers is the same apart from the stance. I made one straight on and the other turned to one side. I always intended for the sideways trooper to be carrying a heavy weapon and the sideways stance works better for that.

I think the weaponry still needs a bit of work. Maybe more detail on it although to be honest these are really close up shots of what is basicaly a miniature 7mm tall from foot to top of head. I made different helmets for the two troopers again because I was trying out ideas. For the first one I went for a retro sci-fi look. Almost like the mini is wearing a gasmask. For the other mini I went for a traditional visored helmet. I think the second helmet needs something to give it more definition. From a distance it looks fine. Just like the sort of helmet you see in lots of Sci-fi films.

Slightly different angle of the mini's. I was going to add shoulder pads to them. Not huge big pads but subtle ones just to help define the shoulder area a bit better.

Pic 4

For backpacks I just went for a very simple design. Again more detail could be added to these.

Pic 5

Finally I have put up a picture showing the scale of the miniatures in relation to another 6mm figure. The other figure is from Ground Zero Games.

So off to try some more 6mm sci-fi infantry!
